Sometimes, stepping into the world of specialty coffee feels reserved exclusively for a closed circle of experts. It’s a sector that quickly fills up with technicalities: complex tasting notes, exact altitudes, millimetric roasting curves, and washing processes that most description-defying mortals can’t even pronounce. All of that is fine, and in fact, it’s crucial to guarantee product excellence.
However, in the market’s day-to-day reality, brands often forget an uncomfortable but crushing truth: before coffee is ever enjoyed in the cup, it is first tasted with the eyes, through good packaging design.
Having the best bean in the world inside the bag is a mandatory requirement if you want to compete. But if the wrapper is unable to convey that same quality in a fraction of a second, your product will simply be invisible on the shelf. At Adhoc, as an agency focused on strategy, corporate identity, and the development of digital and creative projects, we’ve been clear about this since day one. We don’t believe in design as a mere aesthetic ornament to make things “pretty.” We believe in design as a hard-hitting commercial tool that serves to make your business stand out, connect with its audience, and sell more. No fluff.
The Problem We Solve: Silence on a Crowded Shelf
Imagine the situation for a moment. A producer or roaster spends months selecting farms, importing the best green coffee, and perfecting the roast profile. The result is a perfect, flawless product with a unique flavor. However, when it’s time to launch it on the market, that coffee ends up on a supermarket shelf or in a gourmet shop right next to twenty other brands that look practically identical. Same formats, same dull colors, same lack of personality.
That is exactly the problem we set out to solve when we sat down to work with the team at @nenit_coffee_roasters. NENIT wasn’t born to be just another brand fading into the background on an ordinary shelf. Its foundational goal was to completely transform the specialty coffee consumption experience, elevating every customer touchpoint through a memorable visual proposal. We wanted consumers to feel they were facing something extraordinary even before opening the package, and to achieve that, we had to deploy a comprehensive brand creation and product development strategy.
What Does It Take to Build a Product That Stands Out?
Many people outside the marketing sector believe that launching a product consists of designing a catchy logo, picking a standard bag from a supplier, and sticking a label on it with the name. And yes, that is an option if you want to be just another face in the crowd. But if you aspire to lead your niche, you need a visual presence and development that goes much further. Your product’s wrapper isn’t just a cardboard box or a plastic bag to protect the content during logistics transport; the packaging is your company’s spokesperson in the physical world.
In the NENIT project, we knew that every detail told a story. That’s why we broke down the creative development into three major strategic areas that combine conceptual art with commercial viability:
- Purpose-Driven Identity and Branding: We developed a complete visual universe for NENIT that moves away from the usual coffee sector clichés. We looked for a strong typography, an iconic logo, and a color palette capable of conveying sophistication, modernity, and, at the same time, respect for the artisanal roasting process.
- Innovative Packaging Design: We designed a disruptive packaging system that works as an extension of the brand itself. We focused on textures, visual contrasts, and a clean layout of information so consumers can intuitively identify the coffee’s origin and notes, turning the act of holding the bag into a premium experience.
- Technical Functionality and Sustainability: A spectacular design is useless if it’s awkward to open, doesn’t fit well in shipping boxes, or fails to preserve the coffee’s organoleptic properties. We worked hand-in-hand on packaging engineering to ensure that the closure system and materials protected the bean perfectly, merging aesthetics with real utility.
National Recognition for Strategy-Driven Design
When a client with clear ideas who dares to innovate teams up with an agency that applies creativity with strategic rigor, results don’t take long to arrive. The work developed for NENIT has not only achieved a spectacular reception among good coffee lovers, but it has also caught the attention of top industrial design and packaging experts in our country.
Today, we celebrate a very special milestone with the entire team that validates our workflow methodology, as the project has been honored with two highly prestigious awards in the sector:
- ARCAPACK Award for Packaging Process Innovation
- ARCAPACK Award for Best Food, Beverage, Cosmetics, or Other Products Packaging Set
These national awards are irrefutable proof that success comes when you leave generic template solutions aside and decide to bet on a custom project where strategy, art direction, and technical functionality merge to create something unique. It’s not just about winning awards; it’s about validating that the path of differentiation is the most profitable one for a business.
Identity Design Is Not an Expense, It Is Your Best Asset
Just as you would never open a brick-and-mortar store to the public with a broken storefront, the lights off, or unpainted walls, you cannot allow your product to go out and compete in the market with a neglected visual identity or boring packaging. In a digital and physical environment where user attention lasts only a few seconds, your brand’s visual impact is your most valuable introduction card.
At Adhoc, we don’t believe in magic formulas or identical closed packages for everyone. We immerse ourselves completely in the reality of inspiring projects like NENIT to extract their true essence and transform them into powerful brands, ready to stand out in today’s market and capable of making their ideal customer fall in love at first sight.
If you have a great product on your hands but feel your current image isn’t doing justice to its real quality, let’s talk straight. Together, let’s design an identity that is impossible to ignore.
